Project Location: Liberia, West Africa

In March 2010, Solar Liberty Foundation provided a solar water pasteurization unit for an elementary school in Liberia. The system provides clean, bacteria-free water for children of the school and their families.

Solar Electrification of Elementary School

Project Location: Bong County, Liberia

Pastor James Gbolo and his team are building a new school in Bong County and will have it completed within the next year. Pastor Gbolo, a Liberian-American, escaped the civil war in Liberia and vowed to help rebuild his birth country. Solar Liberty Foundation is working with Pastor Gbolo to provide a solar electrification system to this rural elementary school. The system will produce electricity for lighting, computers, and the ability to cook for the students. For some of these children, the food that they receive in school will be their only meal.

Liberia was in civil war for 14 years. In this war-torn nation, children are in desperate need of an education. The school in Bong County will be the only school within a 15-mile radius. As the country of Liberia rebuilds, Solar Liberty Foundation will be involved to provide the much needed solar power.
